| The Gelco Expense
Management division of Gelco Information Network Inc. is a market
leader in outsourced expense report and payment management. The
division of Gelco Information Network offers a thin client or
web-based solution to corporate clients.
Many of their customers have found
that a pure thin client solution is not acceptable in all situations
for their business requirements.
Customers were requesting an application that had the same user
interface as the familiar web based application, but one that could
be used while disconnected from their network or their internet
service provider. |

| To develop a client side application, retaining the
web based user interface, that would allow users to create and manage
expense report documents while disconnected from their Internet
Service Provider and that would provide a mechanism for synchronizing
these Offline documents back to the online system. Any proposed
solution would also need to keep synchronized with the online system
for account configuration changes, including new data validation
requirements.

| Solution |
|
A set of client side and server side components were developed
which provided the functionality required by Gelco's customers. Of
these components, the Offline Application Agent provides the offline
"web serving" and synchronization functionality. This agent is
a small footprint Windows application responsible for handling the
servicing of web requests when the user is disconnected and for
caching expense documents offline until the user chooses to upload
them to their online system. Watch this space for more
