Description

The owner of Walstad Tile and Stone approached A-propos with a request to analyze their current procedures and processes in scheduling and dispatching their employees to job sites and to make recommendations for improving their management of tile jobs.

The owner felt that between $75,000 and $150,000 per year in revenues was being lost due to improper time reporting and billing for their tile jobs.

Project

The analysis phase of the project identified the key functional requirements for a "job management" application.

Some of these key requirements included:

Low implementation cost
Integration with Cell Phone and WAP based timesheet service from Nextel
Extensible reporting architecture

Solution

A LAN based Microsoft Visual Basic and Access application was developed to allow the owner and his employees to easily create and maintain job related data and produce formatted job schedules for their job site leads.

The Application provides import and export functionality to and from the Nextel timesheet reporting service.

This integration allows Walstad tile to reduce the number of errors due to double entry and provides enhanced reporting and analysis from the employee timesheet information.

Walstad Tile is now considering enhancements to the system to tie in payroll and compensation bonus calculations based on historical job performance by employee and type of installation.
